Sammlungsbestand:
The National Museum in Cracow includes the Far Eastern Art Department comprising
about 12 500 objects. It is the largest collection of Far Eastern art in
Poland. The collection covers works of art mainly from Japan and China
and also on a small scale from India, Tibet, Mongolia, Korea and Indonesia.

Temporary displays of contemporary Japanese arts and technological achievements,
in the Center of Japanese Art and Technology "Manggha".
1997: Woodblock prints by Utagawa Hiroshige from the Cracow collection.
Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the artist's birth.

The Asia and Pacific Museum's leading programme for 1996 is "The Year
of the Culture of Nepal". In this programme art exhibitions will be
organized, lectures, film-shows on the topics "India-Nepal-Tibet",
"From the Tradition of Buddhism", "Jiddu Krishnamurti",
"The Yoga Club", "Spiritualism of the East", "Indonesia
for Poles", "Oriental Inspiration in Music", "I-cing
Club", etc.

International Association of Friends of the Khmer Culture:
On January 9, 1996, the 2nd General Assembly of the International Association
"Friends of Angkor Vat" (founded in 1988) was held in Warsaw.
The General Assembly has decided to rename the Asociation to "International
Assocation of Friends of the Khmer Culture", and to locate its headquater
at the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw. Mr. Andrzej Wawrzyniak was elected
to the post of the Association's President.
